Stephen Verbit

Cooper City, Florida

I have twenty-five (25) years experience in business and environmental litigation in federal and state judicial and administrative proceedings throughout the State of Florida. I concentrate in commercial and business litigation, contract law, business law, real estate, banking, construction, environmental law, employment law, defamation, libel, and slander, condominium and homeowners association disputes, collections, land use and zoning, consumer protection, appeals, code enforcement disputes, and commercial transactions.

I earned my B.A., magna cum laude, in 1984 from the State University of New York at Albany, and my law degree, with honors, in 1987, from the National Law Center at George Washington University, in Washington, D.C.

In addition to practicing law full-time, I was an adjunct professor at the St. Thomas University Law School, in Miami, Florida, from 1991 to 1993. I have published articles about new developments in environmental law in leading national trade journals. I have authored course materials for, lectured at, and organized Continuing Legal Education seminars for the Florida Bar. I was officially recognized for five years of service as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem in child custody cases. In addition, I volunteered as an officer and a director of a non-profit adult literacy organization based in Fort Lauderdale.
