Author of The Boost (Tor Books, 2014), speculative fiction that takes place in 2072, most of along the US-Mexico border. Previously wrote The Numerati (2008) and Final Jeopardy--Man vs. Machine and the Quest to Know Everything (2011). Was BusinessWeek tech writer in New York and Paris, and before that bureau chief in Pittsburgh and Mexico City. Grew up in Philadelphia suburbs and spent 20s working in Madrid, Quito, Caracas, Washington, Vermont, and El Paso. Married with three children, all out of the house, and living in Montclair, NJ
