Stephen Christopher Liu is a social entrepreneur who has been successful at building and scaling a number of innovative enterprises -- both online and offline. Currently, he serves as the CEO of Privy Groupe, a technology startup that is capitalizing on the rise of the Asian Century by building the leading private social network and matchmaking platform for a trusted community of bicultural, western educated Asian professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives who are based in and between the United States and Asia.
Stephen is best known as the founder and current Chairman of the largest Asian American membership organization in Southern California called the Asian Professional Exchange (apex.org) which he helped create in 1993. His varied accomplishments in the Asian American community has earned Stephen the honor as an “Icon of Inspiration” by Martell/APEX in 2014, a “Local Hero” by KCET/Union Bank in 2009 and an “Emerging Leader” by the Asian Pacific Community Fund in 2008.
Most recently, Stephen successfully turned around and sold a vertically integrated US and China-based textile manufacturer. It was through Stephen’s travels to Asia for this business combined with his experience of bringing Asians together in the United States that led to initial vision behind his current company Privy. Stephen’s first internet venture was one of the early streaming video-enabled B2B digital marketplaces catering to the global film and television distribution industry called Reelplay.com, a Softbank-backed Forbes-recognized Top 200 B2B Company.
Stephen is also the executive producer of the feature film documentary entitled “Yours Truly, Miss Chinatown” and received his MBA in from the Marshall School at the University of Southern California and lives in Hermosa Beach, California.
