A resident of Belmont, Massachusetts, Stephen C. McEvoy has guided Abiomed, Inc., in a variety of leadership roles since 2007, including as vice president and director of business development. In the latter position, he oversees strategic direction and helps negotiate and execute investment, partnership, acquisition, and licensing projects. Stephen C. McEvoy also serves as general counsel and is the firm’s primary liaison with the board on issues of compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate initiatives. Based in Belmont, he additionally manages a robust intellectual property portfolio of approximately 250 international and U.S. patents, and more than 20 registered trademarks.

Mr. McEvoy earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations at Brown University and completed a J.D. at the Columbia University School of Law. From 1992 to 1997, he served as associate general counsel with Palmer & Dodge, LLP (now Edwards Wildman), in Boston. His areas of focus encompassed securities law and mergers & acquisitions, with an emphasis in the medical devices and biotechnology sectors. Mr. McEvoy maintains an active community presence and is past director of Cambridge Family and Children’s Services.
