Stephen Dent Painter

From 2003 until 2006, Stephen Dent worked on a series of pieces simply entitled, “maps”. He has always been fascinated by maps, it seems, and this series of pieces took on that love of maps and looked to utilize it to create something new and dynamic. “maps” features piece in which maps were used to create a background and then layers of marks and materials were used to restructure the piece. Stephen Dent used either mixed media or charcoal on paper for every piece in this collection. For the cartography lovers, this is a collection worth spending some time admiring.
