I am a tree-hugging academic researcher cum investor cum policy advisor. My work I take seriously, but not myself! Life is too short not to have fun at the same time as working hard.

After 20 years in the institutional investment management industry, I have returned (yet again!) to academia - this time with a view to stay. However, the direction this time is rather different - choosing a path where I hope I can be involved (however small) in making a greater, more positive difference society at large. Investing in a brighter future through education, discovery and policy.

My day is currently split in equal measures of academic teaching in carbon management, PhD studies in food waste and climate change mitigation (both at the University of Edinburgh), husband, and father of three primary-school boys. So please excuse the ever-more-copious white hair!
