Retired from business February 2015 but active in the community; Chair of a local community bank and and a Christian international media mission. 22+ years in community radio and church and school boards.
Employment history: 7 years with CSR Ltd starting as a cadet and closing as Financial Accountant for the Building Materials Division; 9 years with Connellan Airways/Connair, the last 4 as general manager; self-employed for 8 years as a business consultant and established Tiwi Tours, successfully pioneering aboriginal cultural heritage tours to Bathurst and Melville Islands, and to Kakadu National Park, in the NT; business manager Immanual Lutheran College, Sunshine Coast, Qld 5 years; and finally 20 years with Ord Minnett, financial planners and stockbrokers, Buderim.
Married to Annette, 3 children all married, and 3 grandchildren. All bringing joy to our hearts.
I digress now to a story I commend to you!
Josh McDowell was an agnostic. The claims of Christ were worthless. Challenged to intellectually examine these claims he discovered compelling and overwhelming evidence for the reliability of the Christian faith.
Since 1961 he has shared this with more than 25 million people, giving 27,000 talks in 125 countries. In 1991 he founded Operation Carelift which has delivered humanitarian aid worth more than US$46 million.
Josh has written or co-authored 150 books in 128 languages including Evidence That Demands a Verdict - named one of the 20th centuries top 40 books, and one of the 13 most influential books of the last 50 years on Christian thought (World Magazine).
The most important decision I have made in my life was to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It was October 1977, on Anzac Oval, in the heart of Alice Springs, in the heart of Australia. That's not to say all my choices since have been good ones. Far from it. But His grace and mercy and forgiveness have enabled me to get up again.
There is only one certain thing in life. It's that we will depart this life. Know where you are going. God says draw near to Him and He will will draw near to you. Start the journey if you haven't already!
