Stephen R Been

A housing manufacturer working out of the greater Atlanta, Georgia region, Stephen R. Been began his career building Georgia and Florida homes and residential subdivisions with his father. As his elderly father began to work less and less through the 1970s, Mr. Been began to take on more of the managerial duties pertaining to the family business. Adopting many of his father's onsite construction and development practices, he successfully ran Legacy Homes for a number of years.

Ultimately following in his father's footsteps, Stephen R. Been turned over top administrative control of the company to his son, Stephen F. Been, in the summer of 1985. Since that time Mr. Been has served as Vice President of Legacy Homes where he focuses on key aspects of land development to provide quality residences for first-time buyers throughout the suburbs of Atlanta. In 2009, Legacy Homes subsidiary Legacy Communities was named National Builder of the Year by Housing Zone magazine.

In order to better prepare himself for his administrative responsibilities at Legacy Homes, Stephen R. Been obtained an undergraduate business degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to keeping up with his studies, Mr. Been competed as a member of the University's Greco-Roman wrestling team. His interest in competitive and recreational athletics continues unabated to this day. Stephen R. Been is an active sponsor of Georgia's South Fulton County Little League program. He also maintains an avid interest in a wide array of professional and amateur sports from ice hockey and snowboarding to sailing and motocross events.
