Steph Guthrie

Steph Guthrie is a communications professional and community organizer based in Toronto. As founder and executive director of Women in Toronto Politics, she coordinates events to promote women's voices in discussions about Toronto politics on and off council floor. As a Twitter-obsessed feminist with a passion for community engagement, she led a spontaneous effort to hold accountable the creator of a video game inciting violence against feminist media critic Anita Sarkeesian, and discussed the game's harmful impact with both the creator and his supporters. Most recently, she co-organized Take Back the Block (#TBTB) parties in two neighbourhoods affected by a string of public sexual assaults in downtown Toronto in summer 2012. During the day as manager of community outreach for CareerMash, Steph works to transform the way that young people (especially young women) think about technology careers. Steph holds a Master of Arts in Communication & Culture from York and Ryerson Universities. You can follow her on Twitter at @amirightfolks.
