Far-UV Sterilray™

Ultraviolet energy at 222 nm is highly effective at eliminating microorganisms. 4-6 log(99.9999%) reduction of bacteria, fungus, and viral phage was observed in multiple third party tests. The 222 nm energy wavelength is 10 to 1,000 times more effective than UV-C (254 nm). The 222 nm wavelength destroys the integrity of microbial cell walls and breaks DNA-related hydrogen bonds of all microbes. A Far-UV Sterilray™ lamp delivers a single-line 222nm wavelength of Far-UV light and has been used effectively on food products, non-critical medical products, surfaces and air. Far-UV Sterilray™ is cost efficient, highly effective at reducing microbial growth, and is not in the region of the UV range that causes sunburn. There are some safety precautions (proper eye protection, etc.) associated with the use of these products until Far-UV Sterilray receives FDA approval to be used on humans. Studies are in progress. Far-UV Sterilray™ uses a patented Far-UV source that we have developed that targets the proteins of the DNA. It is very different and more effective than UVC 254nm.

The wavelength is close to the peak absorption of the peptide and disulfide bonds.
