Dr Steve Freeman
United Kingdon
As a Director of a global renewables company , I specialise in environmental, legal and commercial matters relating to wind, wave and tidal energy projects.
With over 20 years of industry experience, I’m passionate about the deployment of renewable energy technologies and how they contribute to energy security and the combating of climate change. This includes opportunities for knowledge sharing and advancing best practice in environmental science, policy and commercial drives towards a global low-carbon economy.
I’ve held a number of senior positions with a strong technical focus in offshore energy including renewables and fossil fuel based projects. I’ve managed, researched and consented/permitted numerous energy projects and supported clients globally on environmental management within coastal and marine waters.
A PhD in marine biology, I’ve studied ecosystem dynamics, developed management tools for marine habitats and species, and undertaken impact assessments in support of NGOs, government and industry objectives.
I’m author of numerous scientific publications, book chapters, white papers and thought leadership articles. I balance my professional life with a healthy interest for multi-sports, where I've represented GB age-group teams at triathlon and duathlon.
