There are two things that are most important in my life, Family and Team. I come from a family of 9 so I learned early that if you don't stand up, you are going to be left with the fries at bottom of the bag. My family has made me a confident person who is looking out for the good of others. My family also taught me the importance of commitment and loyalty. As much as I depend on my family, they too depend on me.
Team is another concept that is important to be. Playing soccer through the collegiate level gave me the experience to understand the many moving parts of a team. I learned that no matter how skilled one person is, you can't win on your own. As a team captain I also realized that leading by example creates a culture of success, win or lose. "The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts" may be cliche but is 100% accurate. Each player on the field has their individual role, but if even one player slacks, others have to cover for them and the whole team suffers.
My experiences with my family and as a team member can easily be carried over to the business world. Great ideas come from people who speak up and no organization is complete with out its many components. As part of a family, team or business everyone has responsibilities to each other.
