There he was, a beautiful cinnamon colored black bear and here is the picture to prove it!
Admittedly in 2016 that was one of my favorite moments, possibly in the past decade. I started this Wildlife Photography obsession… uhm OK… I mean hobby at the end of 2015 as a way to put purpose to hiking, maybe I'd even start backpacking. The result 6 months later was that I was so close to this 300+ pound animal I could hear, see and possibly even smell it.
Like everything I do in my life both personally and professionally I jumped into it with both feet. I not only got my feet wet but made a huge splash as I see it. Personally, the thrill of the hunt was amazing. The idea of seeing something not many will ever witness, even more AMAZING. Then to be able to say I did it all on my own was just the icing on the adventure! It was a successful endeavor by my standards!
Please understand that I am not at all one of the adventure/adrenaline junkies that we all, ok sometimes, admire. You know the kind that jumps from a perfectly good working plane or tries to become the next Bear whisper (I had a healthy distance and a great zoom lens). Nope, that’s not me! I will say that I can understand what makes an adrenaline thrive. For me this was more an opportunity to see something that was so fascinating to me, wildlife!
So with this experience in my pocket, both feet in mid air and heading for a new puddle, I started 2017! My new puddle, personal improvement, not just health or finance but all of it. The trick was that I did not want the quick fix, I wanted something sustainable. So for the 1st 10 days I started a search. I applied Project management skills from my professional life (Mind Mapping, daily planning etc… ) and finally settled on the idea of what some may call: the 1% improvement, Kaizen for growth or daffodil. Whatever you want to call it, I just didn’t want all the hype.
So
The goal for 2017 is to make small improvements in my life everyday, with out a measurement or to have a bunch of end goals in mind. I just want to see what would happen if I committed, truly committed to this idea and see where I am at the end of the year.
So there is the commitment and it's in the public eye. I suppose eventually I may blog about this (maybe a 1% percent idea some day down the road for this introvert) but in the mean time if you want to see more pictures from my adventures please click on the link above
Have an amazing 2017
