Steve Barnes

In 1984, Steve joined the swimming pool industry as a research and development laboratory technician. That same year he shot his first professional fireworks display. 27 years later, he has 19 U.S. Patents, mostly relating to swimming pool safety and water quality and he has produced in excess of 100 fireworks shows including a dozen or so 4th of July and New Years Eve displays broadcast LIVE on CBS 5, Phoenix, AZ.

Steve is the Director of Science and Compliance for AquaStar Pool Products. In this role he participates on most of the industry's drowning and injury prevention standards. He is the Chairman of the ANSI/APSP-16 drain cover standard referenced in the federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, aka, the VGB Act. Steve is also the Chairman of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, Technical Committee, and the ANSI/APSP/ICC-15 Standard for Swimming Pool and Spa Energy Efficiency.
