Steve Carney
Tampa Florida United States
A veteran (in more than one sense):
First, with nearly a decade of sports radio experience in Tampa, I'm currently the local pregame and postgame host for Tampa Bay Rays broadcasts, as well as the afternoon SportsCenter anchor on Rays flagship station 620 WDAE and 95.3 FM. I also serve as the station's beat reporter for the Rays. When baseball season ends, I'm also the studio anchor and producer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Radio Network, consisting of 21 radio stations across the state of Florida, and serve as pregame and postgame host as well as sideline reporter for the Outback Bowl, one of the premiere bowl games in college football, played at Raymond James Stadium on New Year's Day. This all comes on the heels of a military career in the United States Navy that saw deployments onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in support of Operation Noble Anvil (Kosovo), Operation Southern Watch (Iraq), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq). I have been awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and NATO Medal among other awards for my service to my country.
