Steve's writing has appeared in Barbaric Yawp, Baseball Poetry, Centralbooking, The Dirty Goat, Lullwater Review, The MacGuffin, The American Book Review, Mobius, The San Francisco Chronicle, and SoMa Literary Review. Steve won honors from the Lorian Hemingway Fiction Writing Contest, and was a finalist for the William Faulkner award. He is the author of the novel Strange Jazz (link below), and of the book of poetry, O, Gigantic Victory! Baseball Poems: The 2010 Championship Season (link below).

Steve has been profiled by The New York Times, and other publications. He has been a guest on San Francisco sports radio's Murph & Mac show, reciting baseball poetry, and bantering with the hosts.
During his New York years, Steve owned and operated The Polo Grounds, a sports bar; founded TunnelVision, a New York sketch-comedy group; and performed stand-up comedy.
Steve earned a B.A. in History from Cornell University, an M.A. in English/Creative Writing from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University.
Steve is a lifelong softball player, and former baseball card dealer. He lives 11 miles from AT&T Park, where he observes the Giants for himself.
