I've always known since I was a kid that my calling was in public service. From my early days working part-time in a public works department to put myself through college all the way to my current position as the Emergency Management Director at the University of Washington -- my direction in life has been clear: to help others and to serve. I have been involved in emergency management for over 26 years in all facets and parts of the country.
I have served in local government as the 1st emergency manager for the City of Phoenix and for state government where I was a Divsion Director for the District of Columbia Emergency Management Agency. After a short stint in the private sector doing EM consulting, I now work as the Emergency Management Director fo the country's largest public research institution -- the University of Washington.
Throughout my career, I have also served continuously in a number of volunteer roles serving and promoting my profession. From President of AZ Emergency Services Assocition, to over 16 years in EMAP and 25 years serving in various capacities in NCCEM/IAEM. I am currently the Secretary of IAEM-USA and am running for re-election for the 2014-16 term and would appreciate your vote!
