Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in chemical engineering in Washington State. Teach engineering and chemistry at University of Washington Bothell. Began career as a process engineer at Eastman Kodak and Philip Morris (now Altria); joined UWB in 1993 and in present position since April 2013. Interest in both renewable energy and sustainable adaptation of conventional energy technologies to meet global energy needs.

Hobbies include ham radio and reading history and political philosophy. Speak and read Japanese, and am a licensed amateur radio operator. Am dedicated to the Enlightenment ideals of self-cultivation through life-long learning and to using science and technology not as ends but as means to the end of human flourishing.
