Steven Afsahi

Adult orthodontics and TMJ specialist Dr. Steven Afsahi has distinguished himself both in academia and clinical practice, possessing more than 17 years of experience in his field. The inventor of the bleaching retainer called the Afsahi Appliance, he achieved recognition while earning his DDS for co-writing “Protection by latex or vinyl gloves against cytotoxicity of direct bonding adhesives,” published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Over the course of his successful career, Dr. Steven Afsahi has practiced in several clinics, serving over 9,000 patients, and overseen nine associates. He utilizes braces, braces alternatives and functional appliances to correct bites and create beautiful designer smiles. He serves individuals in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC area and advocates holistic medicine. Dr. Afsahi maintains professional affiliation with the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Steven Afsahi completed his education at the University of Maryland. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Zoology, graduating summa cum laude, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery, graduating magna cum laude. He gained certification as an orthodontist from Howard University. In his leisure time, Dr. Steven Afsahi volunteers to help individuals in need of food or shelter. He also takes pleasure in playing soccer and tennis.
