I co-founded BFM Digital (formerly Big Fish Media) to be a digital distribution company for independent music and media companies. After 10 years, we grew it to include over 650 content partners and more than 100 digital music services. An impressive task considering we were completely bootstrapped and had no outside money.
Concurrently, I ran Corn Music Services that was an early entry in licensing master tones to cellular companies around the world. CMS also provided music clearance service for hi-tech companies such as kSolo.com, Myspace, Oddcast, Universal Attractions and many more.
Prior to both BFM and CMS, I served as EVP of LicenseMusic.com. This company was a pioneer who created a complete online music licensing solution. My many other hats before LicenseMusic included running a production music library (Megatrax), music supervision on dozens of TV and film projects, managing a post-production sound studio and a brief stint as a film composer.
Oh yeah, I also co-created a jazz label call BFM Jazz that garnered three Grammy nominations in our first two years.
What does all of this mean? I am not afraid to jump into the deep end of a very cold pool. Every time, I have managed to find a way to find creative solutions and thrive. The end result is a uniquely, diverse perspective of the music business and its myriad, complex streams of revenue.
