Dr. Steven Neufeld M.D.

Born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, Dr. Steven Neufeld currently resides in Washington, D.C. A board certified physician for more than 10 years, Dr. Steven Neufeld is the Medical Director at the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center in Falls Church, Virginia. Treating patients in the greater Washington, D.C. area, the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center provides a comprehensive approach in one location for a wide range of foot and ankle needs. As the Managing Director, Dr. Steven Neufeld oversees an impressive staff of podiatrists, orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, physician assistants, athletic trainers, and medical assistants.

Focusing their efforts on top quality foot and ankle care in an attentive and considerate environment, Dr. Steven Neufeld and his staff continually search for new advancements in treatment to serve patients better. Establishing an innovative approach to bunion surgery, Dr. Steven Neufeld developed a new technique that can significantly reduce the healing time. After correcting the bunion and straightening the bone, he inserts a small metal plate called the Ludloff Plate, which allows patients to walk considerably sooner than the old procedure did. While most patients may still require pain medications and crutches for a couple of weeks post-surgery, the doctor is confident the new surgery produces superior results.

Throughout his career, Dr. Steven Neufeld has received grants to fund his ongoing research. In 2007, he was awarded the On-Q Research Grant for a randomized, placebo-controlled, patient-oriented study. He was also given the 2009 Synthes, Inc. Research Grant, which enabled him to perform a biomechanical comparison of compression screws and locking plates. Currently involved in various research products, he is studying the immediate weight-bearing capacity for patients who have undergone Hallux Valgus correction with locking plate fixation, as well as Augment bone graft safety and its effectiveness in hindfoot and ankle arthrodesis.
