Steven Fillenwarth

Steven F. Fillenwarth, a lawyer with more than 25 years of professional experience, spends time working with his own practice as well as the Army Reserves. His academic training began at the Bloomington campus of Indiana University, where he studied accounting to earn a Bachelor of Science degree. Steven F. Fillenwarth next chose to undertake legal training at the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis. In his first job, Steven F. Fillenwarth worked at Blue & Co., LLC. His duties included providing oversight in the tax and litigation support department, as well as tasks involving business valuations. From 1990 until 2003, he served as a Partner at his own firm, Rucker Fillenwarth & Panszi. This work involved handling clients with financially complicated marital estates and custody issues, as well as those in need of estate and tax planning services. From 2003 until 2004, he practiced in the Matrimonial Law Section of Bingham McHale, LLP. Currently, he works as the Principal at his firm, Fillenwarth & Associates. With an extensive background in family law, Steven F. Fillenwarth has enjoyed sharing his expertise with students and colleagues. He has lectured at various ICLEF, PESI, and NBI seminars on topics such as Divorce Valuations, Tax Aspects of Divorce in Indiana, Minimizing the Tax Consequences of Divorce in Indiana, The ABCs of QDROs, and The Financial Aspects of Divorce. His writing appeared in the 1987 edition of Divorce Taxation. Additionally, Steven F. Fillenwarth is proud to offer support to his country by serving in the military. For more than 20 years, he has been an army reservist in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2009. In 2010, he was deployed for one year to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
