Steven Galper
A 1998 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson physician Steven Galper, MD, possesses over a decade of experience in medicine in educational and clinical capacities. Dr. Galper maintains positions with Independent Behavioral Health Associates, Pima County Adult Detention Complex, Marana Health Center Behavioral Health Services, and the University of Arizona Pain Clinic. In these positions, he specializes in pain management, psychiatry, and mental health.
After earning an MBA with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Steven Galper held positions as a Tax Analyst and Senior Tax Accountant from 1978 to 1982. In addition, he obtained his J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 1982. From 1983 to 1997, he directed the offices of Galper & Associates, PC. In 1994, Dr. Steven Galper returned to the University of Arizona to pursue a Doctor of Medicine at the College of Medicine. Notably, he engaged in directed research through the University of Arizona’s Department of Pharmacology in 1995, where he examined murine hyperalgesia and opioid receptors. This work resulted in a 1996 Excellence in Research Award from Western Student Medical Research Forum. From 1998 to 2004, Dr. Galper undertook a joint residency in neurology and psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He also volunteered as a tutor through the University of Arizona Office of Minority Affairs’ Minority Medical Education Program. As a medical resident, Dr. Steven Galper presented on various subjects; his presentations included “The Treatment of Patients with Borderline Personality Disorder” and “New Perspectives on the Prevention and Management of Migraine Headaches.” From 2006 to 2010, he was engaged as a Physician specializing in neurology, psychiatry, and pain management at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson. He also fulfilled duties as a Physician of Pain Management with Old Pueblo Pain Consultants during this period.
