Steven L. Frank

My facilities management background began as a Territory and Branch Manager with Barefoot Grass, Inc., then the second largest landscape services company in the U.S. I moved into management positions with Lesco, Inc., the leading lawn, tree care and pest control supplier in the nation at the time and later spent ten years as Landscape Services Coordinator for Michigan State University prior to joining The University of Chicago as the Landscape Services Supervisor in 2010, where I was responsible for in-house and contracted grounds maintenance and enhancement, Motor Pool operations, and aspects of Recycling and Waste Management. Currently, I am at Designers Choice , where I oversee all operations for a premier design and build company.

I am past President of the Capital Area Landscape & Nursery Association in Lansing, Michigan; served on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association; was a Legislative Representative with the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association and am a member of the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS), Sports Turf Managers Association, Illinois Professional Lawn Care Association, the Midwest Ecological Landscape Association and the American Public Garden Association. I also served on the Sustainability Council at The University of Chicago and the Committee for a Sustainable Campus at Michigan State.

I was presented the PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) Environmental Improvement and PGMS GreenStar Grand Awards while at The University of Chicago. I am a past winner of the Campus Sustainable Leadership Award from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and a PGMS GreenStar Merit Award at Michigan State.

Prior experience includes a General Manager position at Curbco, Inc., a large regional exterior property and roads maintenance company; investment sales and management as a Registered Representative with First Investors Corporation, facilities management as a General Manager with AMC Entertainment, Inc. and an intern position with the Walt Disney Company. I also worked part time as a Greenskeeper at Lake O; The Hills Golf Club in Haslett, Michigan and in the box office at Palace Sports & Entertainment.

I attended Lansing Community College, earning an A.A. in Business with additional studies in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. I hold a B.B.A. in Management and Marketing
