Steven M Ziegler

Renowned health care attorney Steven M. Ziegler, P.A., functions as Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, and General Counsel for SantaFe HealthCare, Inc. Since joining the Sunrise, Florida, entity, Ziegler has overseen the legal elements of the parent company and its affiliates including Haven Hospice, SantaFe Senior Living, and AvMed. As part of his duties as an attorney and as Chair of the SantaFe Healthcare Corporate Compliance Committee, Steven M. Ziegler reviews local, state, and federal laws to ensure that SantaFe Healthcare follows applicable guidelines and statutes. Furthermore, he handles matters related to risk management, insurance protection, business continuity, and internal audits. He also maintains additional responsibilities that include interacting with vendors, members of its Board of Directors, and legislators.

Before accepting his current position, Ziegler spent nearly 30 years as the owner of his own law firm, the Law Offices of Steven M. Ziegler, P.A. Based out of Hollywood, Florida, his boutique practice emerged as one of the first firms to focus on managed-care organizations. HMOs from around the country hired him for guidance in regulatory, commercial, and contract law as well as in risk management. As a litigator, he defended clients in suits involving medical malpractice, ERISA, and Medicare and Medicaid. From his office, Steven M Ziegler, P.A., drafted hundreds of essential documents such as member contracts, provider agreements, and self-funded plan documents for these businesses.

Outside of his practice, Steven M. Ziegler travels to speak about these issues at conferences. The American Health Lawyers Association; Payors, Plans and Managed Care Law Institute; Sheridan Healthcare, Inc.; and the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management & Patient Safety represent some of the groups that have requested his presence at their events.
