Dr. Steven Smalt, CPA combines 25 years of teaching experience in accounting, auditing, international accounting and financial information systems with a track record of hands-on involvement in business management and management consulting. His clients have included companies such as Coca-Cola, Kroger, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Georgia Power, The Huatai Group, Allied Waste, Waste Management and Armstrong World Industries. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of STI Knowledge, Inc., a company that provides IT and helpdesk services (#14 on INC 500 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S.). He has taught Continuing Professional Education programs for many organizations including the Georgia Society of CPAs. In conjunction with the Institute for International Research, London, England, he has taught professional seminars on U.S. and SEC financial reporting standards in various European cities over the past several years. Dr. Smalt is an Associate Professor of Accounting and Information Systems at Kennesaw State University. He has conducted research and published articles on the conversion to IFRS from US GAAP, the debate over expensing stock options, the management of intellectual capital in Fortune 500 corporations, the International Accounting Standards setting process and alternative approaches to teaching accounting and business concepts. In his free time Steve enjoys golf, scuba diving, fishing, flying and traveling.
