Steven Snyder

For the last year, Steven Snyder served as the Assistant Disciplinary Counsel for the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia's Judicial Investigation Commission ("JIC"). Steven investigated and prosecuted alleged code of conduct violations by judges and attorneys, he drafted advisory ethics opinions, supervised fatality review investigations, and offered general counsel and advice to the JIC on a wide variety of legal issues.

Steven came to West Virginia in order to be with his wife, Rabbbi Jean Eglinton, who had signed a three-year contract to serve a small but mighty congregation in Huntington.

Prior to coming to West Virginia, Steven worked for six years as an in-house counsel for GE Aviation, the world’s leading manufacturer of jet engines. At GE Aviation, Steven first served as a litigation counsel, handling intellectual property disputes, product liability lawsuits, False Claims Act claims, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, breach of contract litigation and an employment discrimination class-action. Steven later served as the Company’s lead privacy attorney and as a labor & employment counsel. As privacy counsel, Steven advised the Company on domestic and foreign privacy law requirements, data security and data breach responses. As a labor & employment counsel, Steven defended the company in Collective Bargaining Agreement grievance proceedings and employment discrimination arbitrations. He also provided counseling and training to H.R. managers on hiring, reductions-in-force, performance evaluations and strike preparedness training.

Before joining GE Aviation, Steven was a partner at Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs LLP, where he represented a wide variety of businesses and governmental units in commercial disputes, civil rights actions, domain name disputes, intellectual property lawsuits, trade secret actions, and will and trust disputes. Previously, Steven served as a law clerk to Judge Harlington Wood, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Before attending law school, Steven worked for several years in publishing and journalism in New York and Illinois.
