My name is Sthembiso Thwala, and I am a dedicated third-year Bachelor of Education student at the University of Johannesburg. I come from Piet Retief, a small town in Mpumalanga. My journey into teaching is driven by a deep passion for working with young people. I believe that education has the power to change lives and communities. This belief shapes everything I do as a future educator.
My teaching philosophy is centered on making learning fun and engaging for all students. I strongly believe that learners remember more when they enjoy what they are studying. I reject the old idea that learners are empty vessels waiting to be filled with information. Instead, I see them as active thinkers who learn best through participation and curiosity. I want my classroom to be a place where questions are welcomed and exploration is encouraged.
Outside of my academic life, I enjoy a balanced lifestyle filled with variety. I love spending time outdoors, whether it is hiking, running or just enjoying nature. I also enjoy playing video games, which help me relax and think strategically. These hobbies teach me patience, problem-solving and teamwork. I believe these skills will also help me become a better and more relatable teacher.
