Jeff Lyons has more than 25 years' experience as a professional writer, story consultant and teacher. Along with his past film and TV consulting for major production companies and independent producers, he has also worked as a developmental editor and story consultant for key print-on-demand publishers, including: Amazon’s Createspace, Author Solutions, iUniverse, other major subsidy imprints.

Jeff Lyons is currently a story editor and development consultant at Kensington Entertainment, Burbank, California, where he directs the development of a slate of feature film, scripted TV, and reality TV projects. Jeff is also an instructor through Stanford University's Online Writer’s Studio, where he teaches his popular premise and story development class. He also guest lectures through the UCLA Extension Writers Program, where he teaches story structure and story development to novelists and screenwriters. Jeff is a regular contributor to Writer’s Digest Magazine and Script Magazine, where he writes his popular column “Story Talk” and he is also a contributor to one of the oldest writing trade magazines in the U.S., The Writer Magazine.

In addition, he teaches story development workshops throughout the U.S. and will be expanding his workshops to The United Kingdom and Ireland in 2014. He has also participated as an instructor in the annual Producers Guild of America’s Diversity Workshop. Along with his lecturing and teaching, Jeff is a regular presenter at leading industry conferences, including: Screenwriters World Conference West, The Great American Pitchfest, The London Screenwriters’ Festival, and The International Enneagram Association World Conference, among others.

Rapid Story Development

Jeff is the creator of the “Rapid Story Development™” (RDS) method, which is a system that marries the power of the Enneagram system and traditional story structure to create a groundbreaking approach to developing any story more quickly and with more depth and efficiency. The RDS Method is used by New York Times bestselling authors, produced screenwriters. The RSD Method was used recently to develop the feature film Flytrap, by director Stephen David Brooks (2015 release).
