Avery Stratton

Intern in Topeka, KS

Hey I'm Avery. I've lived in Topeka my whole life. I'm a freshman at Washburn University majoring in Mass Media with an emphasis in Film and Video and minoring in Business. I came to Washburn thinking I wanted to go into the medical field. But, after working on a short documentary called “Kodak in the Congo” last year, I started thinking about a career in film. However, I figured medicine would provide me with a more stable future. I started as a Biology (pre-med) major at WU, which lasted about 11 days. Now, yours truly is the poster child of disappointing hopeful parents (Kidding, I swear). You should really check out the documentary on YouTube and see our website. (Okay, no more shameless plugs). After Washburn, I want to go to graduate film and business school at NYU and then, hopefully, produce feature-length films.

I love reading pretty much anything, playing the acoustic guitar and ukulele, drinking a ludicrous amount of coffee, watching movies, and filmmaking. I work on the Sports Production Crew for WU, as an intern at KTWU and MotoVike Films, and as a freelance cinematographer.
