Sonorra is the founder of Shades N Love and Co-owner of Shades N Love Incorporated LLC.

She is the author of the "My Mom's a Stud" series, "My Illusion My Reality" (not released), and Inspirations Aspirations & Motivations".

Sonorra retired from the U.S. Army after serving in Operations Desert Storm/Shield, Joint Endeavor, and Iraqi/Enduring Freedom. She graduated from Chapman University, with a Master's degree in Psychology, and an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Sonorra has provided services in residential mental health, juvenile delinquency, inpatient chemical dependency, eating disorders, and religious abuse. She has advocated for the safety of children and women who endured domestic abuse, sexual assault, and/or child abuse, as well as for service members who suffer from PTSD.

Sonorra is the first "African American, masculine of center" identified wombman author of a children's book containing characters with "ethnic" names, and shades of color for the LGBTQ community.

Sonorra is a strong advocate for the LGBTQ community. Her goal is to increase unity via awareness and education. Her books are designed to facilitate discussions surrounding difficult situations identified within LGBTQ and general communities. Such topics include racism, sexism, bullying, hate crimes, and labeling. Her books are well received by children and adults from all backgrounds, regardless of culture, gender, or preference

She has collaborated with Bridget Cantrell, co-author of "Down Range to Iraq and Back"; Rear Admiral Stuart Franklin Platt, USN Ret., author of "Letters from the Front Lines Iraq and Afghanistan"; Jackson Katz, featured in "Tough Guise"' Lane Judson, initiator of the "Crystal Judson Justice Center", in Tacoma, WA.
