The StrongLifts 5x5 training program is based on the 5x5 routine that Arnold Schwarzenegger's mentor, the legendary Reg Park, used back in the 1950s to build his world class physique and strength.

The StrongLifts website was founded by Mehdi Hadim in May 2007. If you're not familiar with Mehdi: he wasn't born to be big or strong. The huge embarassement and humiliation of being weaker than a girl motivated him to take action. Never again did he want to be the skinny-fat weakling again.

Today, through sheer determination and focus, Mehdi has gained 43lb of almost all muscle while losing his belly fat and without ever using drugs. He has also gone from not being able to do a single pushup to now Squatting 419lb (2.5x his body-weight) and Deadlifting 500lb (triple body-weight).

And yet it wasn't easy for Mehdi to figure out how to gain strength and muscle while losing fat.
