Stuart Watkins is bassist from Ottawa, Canada. In addition to having toured for 6 years with the Grammy -nominated East Village Opera Company (NYC), he's spent the last 5 years with Juno-award winners The Tenors. On bass, he's backed up such legends as Aretha Franklin, Paul Anka and Kenny G, artists such as Eric Benet, Charice, Jann Arden, Johnny Reid, Joel Plaskett Leela Gilday, to name a few. In addition to having recorded with artists, such as Jim Cuddy, Lynn Miles, Ian Tamblyn and Oh Susanna, he's also played bass with 18-time Grammy award-winning producer David Foster and has performed at every Olympic Games since 2004. Watkins has an extensive discography and has appeared numerous times on national and international radio and television. As a young musician, Watkins was the first western student of master bassist Habib Faye (Peter Gabriel, Youssou N'dour) having studied the Mbalax tradition with him in Dakar, Senegal. He was an instructor for three years at the Faculty of Music at his alma mater, Carleton University and gives numerous workshops and clinics when not on the road. Stuart is a proud endorser of Eden Electronics Bass Amplification, Gibson Basses, Radial Engineering, Empress Effects, Undercover Cases, Yamaha Classical, George L's Cables, Starkey In-Ear Monitors, and Elixir Strings.
