Stuart Val Staker

Stuart Val Staker founded Staker Paving and Construction Company, Inc., over four decades ago. Under his guidance, the Salt Lake City-based company quickly expanded to become one of the premier paving and rock supply contractors in the intermountain west. Staker eventually merged with CRH PLC, an Irish multi-national materials company, headquartered in Dublin. After the merger, Stuart Val Staker became the Chief Executive Officer of the Mountain Group for Oldcastle, an American subsidiary of CRH. In this position, he oversaw an operation with revenues of over $750 million a year and more than 4000 employees.

Throughout his career, Mr. Staker has remained actively involved with the highway construction and materials industry. Formerly a national officer and board member of the National Asphalt Pavement Association, he also chaired several committees for that organization. In addition, he participated with Associated General Contractors of Utah as an officer and board member. In 2004, the organization honored him with the Eric W. Ryberg Award for lifetime achievement.

Mr. Staker attended The University of Utah and is a native of Salt Lake City. Stuart Val Staker has lived in Utah for most of his life, with the exception of time served in the United States Army and a two-year missionary trip to New Zealand. He volunteers in his community and offers financial assistance to a number of charitable causes, especially through the PI Foundation, which he established as a philanthropic organization. At present, he serves as the Chairman of the Staker Company, an investment and real estate development group.
