Stu Harvey
Father and Managing Director in Melbourne, Australia
Over 25 years in the music industry, in record label land and also quite a bit of radio.
I started out picking orders in the Mushroom warehouse. Along the way, I learned everything I could from anyone willing to share.
I’ve worked at Zomba/Jive, Mushroom, UNFD, and spent over a decade at Shock Records, Australia’s biggest independent music company.
I’m proud to have worked on campaigns for some incredible artists.
Punk, hardcore and the music I love wasnt getting played on the radio, so I founded and hosted for 11 years Short.Fast.Loud. on triple j.
Here’s my final playlist
At Shock, I often traveled to events like SXSW with Leigh Gruppetta, a great mate and colleague. Late one night, we decided it was time to start our own music company.
So in 2013 we started Cooking Vinyl Australia, and rebranded the company to Civilians in 2023.
We’re proud that our roster isn’t just diverse—it’s full of people we actually like.
That includes Ceres, The Chats, Eliza & The Delusionals, Emma Donovan, Fanny Lumsden, Jebediah, Jenny Mitchell, King Stingray, Luca Brasi, Parkway Drive, Windwaker and more to come.
We also handle Australian label services for Resist, Dine Alone, Run For Cover, Thirty Tigers, Greyscale, and Equal Vision, helping their artists and brands grow here.
Hit me up if you wanna talk music.
Outside of that, I’ve got two amazing kids, a pup named Cherry and a fiancée, Georgia, who inspires me daily.
I am a tragic Hawthorn Football Club fan, but I blame my Dad for that… and my son blames me.
Go Hawks!
