Board certified in sports medicine and emergency medicine, Dr. Stu Steinman acts as a member of the Connecticut Medical Society Committee on Medical Aspects of Sport and serves as medical advisor for the Westport Weston Health District. He also manages a volunteer vaccination clinic in Westport established by the Connecticut-based nonprofit service organization Builders Beyond Borders. At his Norwalk, Connecticut, private practice WestSports Medicine, Dr. Stu Steinman has provided sports-related injury treatment and training programs for adults and children since 2002.
Following graduation from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine, Dr. Stu Steinman completed an internship at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California, and attended a surgical residency at Boston University. Early on, he ran a private general medicine practice in Brooklyn, New York, and over the course of his extensive career he has held a variety of positions, ranging from team physician for multiple New York school districts to medical director of the Advanced Life Support Institute at Maimonides Medical Center.
A founding fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Steinman also maintains standing as a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the USA Tennis New England Sports Science Committee.
Among his personal pursuits, Dr. Stu Steinman enjoys physical activities like biking, hiking, and diving. He also frequently attends theatrical performances and considers Ruined and Death of a Salesman his favorite plays.
