For more than 155 years, St. Vincent Medical Center has provided quality health care to Los Angeles residents. In 1856, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul founded the Los Angeles Infirmary, which eventually became St. Vincent Medical Center.

The Cancer Treatment Center at St. Vincent Medical Center provides a range of radiation therapy. Accredited by the American College of Surgeons, the St. Vincent Medical Center performs Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), 3-D Conformal Radiation Therapy, and Brachytherapy for patients with prostate cancer. St. Vincent Medical Center’s Joint Replacement Institute possesses board-certified orthopaedic surgeons to operate on patients with chronic shoulder, hip, or knee pain. At St. Vincent Medical Center, an Acute Rehabilitation Unit assists patients to get swiftly back in action. St. Vincent Medical Center also has a Multi-Organ Transplant Center with expertise in kidney and kidney/pancreas transplants. Specialists at the Multi-Organ Transplant Center also performed their first encapsulated human islet cell transplant in 1993, and the first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy in the city of Los Angeles in 1999.
