Suffolk Business

Suffolk Business Stars (SBS) is a Facebook group for local businesses to give each other support and currently has nearly 6,000 members. The social group used to be a fantastic way of getting noticed by other companies within Suffolk postcode. Back in 2015 and before, the community had a mixture of all sorts of businesses that only wanted to network, help and chat to each other. You could ask a question like 'who is the best (whatever)", and you would get honest replies from people who used and paid for whatever service. It was fantastic back in the day.

Sadly, the group has outgrown itself. SBS is simply a place where business owners vote whoever brought them breakfast at the last offline meeting. It is a free for all where people 'vote' for the most popular name mentioned, not the best person for the job. Reviews are opinions, not paid transactions.

You will find that boyfriends will vote for their Girlfriends businesses. Web designers will have a 30 post price war, which is often a discussion started by someone asking "what do you think of my website", they have not asked for a design quote.

Someone will put a question about employment law yet get replies stating information from a law relevant in Canada back in 1978.

If you ask a 'stupid question', then be prepared for answers like "Google it" or a quote for a service that you do not need or will even use in your business life.

Suffolk Business Starsis nothing more than a glorified selling page where you will get 50 replies to your question but not a single answer that helps.

I have built this site for no other reason than to rank it in Google to show that the information they preach, is wrong in most cases. I often see advice from a couple of web designers who are the worlds best SEO, the UK's best hosting company and Englands finest marketing geniuses.

They have poorly built sites that are slow to load; they do not rank in Google, their USP is undercutting on price, and that is it.

So if you are a new business looking for awebsite, hosting or marketing then sorry guys, Suffolk Business Stars (SBS) isnot the place to be.
