Suganthan Kayilasanathan
Doctor in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Hello, I'm Dr. Suganthan Kayilasanathan. I grew up in the beautiful Seychelles Islands and moved to Canada in 1988. My early exposure to different cultures profoundly shaped my worldview and my approach to medicine. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario and went on to earn my medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas.
As a family physician, my practice is deeply rooted in a holistic approach. I believe in treating the person, not just the symptoms, which means understanding each patient's unique life circumstances, values, and health goals. This approach not only helps in providing personalized care but also in building lasting relationships with my patients.
I've always been active in sports, having played for the Ontario U19 cricket team and participated in volleyball and track & field. These activities taught me the importance of teamwork and resilience—qualities that are essential in healthcare. In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, and chess, which keep me physically and mentally sharp.
I'm also involved in community service, volunteering at my local temple where I help organize health education sessions and support outreach programs. This is another way for me to give back and stay connected to my roots.
Overall, I strive to balance my professional responsibilities with my personal interests and community involvement, believing that a well-rounded life informs better patient care.
