Sugar Bro
I was running wild on the streets of El Cajon California when the Dog Catcher got me. Anyhow I was six months old just a pup & I was taken to Sweetwater Animal Shelter in Bonita California where I was put into a concrete floored cage of chained link. I contracted Kennel cough. Along came this lady (who now is my mom). She told the volunteer "I want that one". The Shelter people had named me "Buzzy". They told my mom "No", you can't have Buzzy, he has Kennel cough". My mom was really persistent. She would not take no for an answer. She insisted that she have me. I was wild. I was not trained and I was a highly misunderstood Red Nose Pit Bull. My mom could see I was a great guy under the "stigma". My mom came back after my Kennel Cough was gone and the Kennel staff told her she could not play with me unless she could prove that her Home owner's insurance policy covered Pit Bulls. She called Allstate, her insurance company, and they said absolutely NOT. No Pit Bull coverage. My mom was so determined to have me. She woke up the next morning and called a company in New York called Assurant and they gave her the insurance she needed to get me out of that joint. Then they allowed her to play with me in a little play area. Like I said, I was wild & untrained, yet, my mom could see that I needed love, kindness & some work and I would be fine. They put me through a surgery (State Law in California) I was Neutered over on Gaines Street. My mom was there waiting for me when I got out of surgery. She had a toy for me and a camera to take pictures of my first day home with her! She did not like the name Buzzy so she changed my name to Sugar because she said I was so sweet. My two brothers Daniel and William told my mom to name me Sugar Bro because I was their Bro and they said it sounded more masculine than Sugar. My mom then told me my name is Sugar Bro. That is how I got my name. Well, here I am. I am still a Pup but I am almost two (Fourteen in Dog years) I'm getting through my teenage years without incident. I am still Sweet. My mom still loves me "More than the Moon" and I am still highly misunderstood. I am a sweet docile Lamb in a Pit Bull's body! I love to frequent Dog Beaches, Dog Parks, Hiking trails designated for Humans and Dogs etc.. and I have never had a negative encounter with another dog or a human. I love to play and run and swim and retrieve the ball or chew on my chew toy.
