Sujith Eranezhath

Sujith Subash Eranezhath is the first Chief Executive Officer of the Incubation Centre for Ayurveda Innovation and Entrepreneurship (iCAINE) at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, India’s first public sector Ayurveda business incubator. He has over 16 years of experience in research management and administration and 14 years in scientific and technical project leadership, working at the interface of Microbiology, Ayurveda, Epigenomics and evidence on the safety, efficacy, mode of action and bio-availability of traditional medicines, alongside innovation readiness and startup ecosystem development.

He began his career as a Senior Research Fellow under a Coconut Development Board–funded project (2008–2010), followed by Senior Research Officer at the AVT Institute for Advanced Research (2010–2012), managing projects in the Basic and Translational Research Department and supporting strategic partnerships. From 2012 to 2014, he served as Head and Research Scientist at AVP Research Foundation, leading the research team, coordinating projects, mentoring staff and helping establish and consolidate the Basic and Translational Research Department of the AVP Group of Institutions.

In 2014, he founded the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Foundation (IBRF), formerly Society of United Life Sciences, India, a Section 8 not-for-profit organisation promoting research that supports national per capita growth and affordable healthcare technologies and protocols. From 2015 to 2024, he was Assistant Director and Research Scientist at AVP Research Foundation, overseeing strategy, research protocols, scientific communication, legal collaborations and expansion of research operations. During this period he led the DHARA (Digital Helpline for Ayurveda Research Articles) project, the first comprehensive online indexing service for Ayurveda research, and contributed to a Centre of Excellence grant in rheumatology and product and process development on Virgin Coconut Oil for antihyperlipidemia.

Since 2010, he has served as Executive Editor of the peer-reviewed journal “Ancient Science of Life” (Wolters Kluwer), acting as the primary liaison with the Editors-in-Chief, ensuring journal quality, managing editorial operations and guiding editorial board succession. He has been a member of several scientific committees and editorial boards in innovation and traditional medicine, and had the distinction of being the only Indian member of the Junior Advisory Board of the web 2.0 initiative of ResearchGATE, Germany, reflecting his early engagement with digital research and networking platforms.

His academic outreach includes guest teaching and scientific liaison work for collaborative projects between The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. and the University of Latvia, and lecturing Biomedical Engineering students at Colorado State University (BIOM 304 – Global Challenges and Collaborations in BME) on Ayurvedic dosage forms and their relevance to therapeutic biomaterials. In the policy and governance domain, he has served on the committee to standardise Ayurveda formulations under a Centre of Excellence scheme, the Business Advisory Committee in the Ayurveda sector of the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence, as Alternate Member Secretary of the Institutional Ethics Committee at AVP Research Foundation, as Member of the Board of Studies at Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, as Industry Expert member of the Innovation Council of Sree Narayana Guru College (Coimbatore), and as Secretary General of the Forum for Guidelines on Ayurveda Management of Mental Health and Behavioural Disorders (F-GAMB).

Since 2024, as CEO of AIIA-iCAINE, he has led strategy, operations, startup support and ecosystem partnerships for Ayurveda and life-science ventures and spearheaded the AYUSH Innovation Readiness (AIR) Framework, which harmonises Technology, Manufacturing and Service Readiness Levels for AYUSH innovations from traditional knowledge to scalable deployment. He has also coordinated Ministry of Ayush problem statements for the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 – Software Edition and serves as Member Secretary of the CSR Policy Draft Committee at AIIA. Alongside a substantial publication record in Ayurveda research, clinical studies, wound healing, osteoblast proliferation and digital indexing systems, he offers freelance consulting in intellectual property rights, corporate law, SOP drafting and implementation for Ayurveda industry production and mock assessments for NABH accreditation.
