Sukhjit Singh is an accomplished Career Development Professional and an avid volunteer. He is also known as a change agent. An Indian by birth, Sukhjit came to Canada accompanied by his wife and daughter in 2009 after spending almost 10 years in an exciting career teaching Computer Engineering and Management in a post secondary institute.
A strong supporter of social and civic inclusion for newcomers to Canada, he feels that volunteer work is not only a way to gain Canadian work experience, but it is the best way to participate in and learn about new country as well. Volunteering has become a passion for him and he cares passionately about empowering and motivating other newcomers in Canada. Sukhjit became a motivational story teller. In 2017, he published his first book “Same Shoes, Different Doors”. This book is chronological stories of his journey of struggle and success as a new immigrant in Canada. Sukhjit is a frequent speaker at many events in GTA and shares his expertise and enthusiasm with others as a member of several community-based organizations. At present he is a Regional Reviewer at Emploi et Développement social Canada (EDSC) / Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), Public Policy Committee member at Volunteer Canada, a mentor at e-NIC YMCA and an ambassador at Volunteer MBC. In past, as a volunteer, he chaired Institute of Canadian Citizenship Peel chapter, he was Board Member at InformCanada, a speaker with passages Canada, a member at Heritage Minute Advisory Committee. He was Co-Chair at Ontario, Ministry of Labour Small Business Task Group, member at Interfaith Council of Peel, Board of Director at Volunteer MBC, Co-Chair at Peel Newcomer Strategy Group’s Social, Civic and Economic Inclusion committee, Brand Ambassador of Region of Peel’s Immigration Portal, Ambassador at Canadian Immigration Integration Program, Mentor at TRIEC, PIC member at Peel District School Board and many more..
Sukhjit lives in Mississauga, Ontario, with his wife and daughter; he is interested in sports and now a days he is learning karate.
