Summer Nix
Greetings from the Peach State!
I am a young profession currently working in Economic Development in Dalton, Georgia. I have a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Management and recently started the Masters of Arts in Communications program with Johns Hopkins University focusing in Corporate and Non-Profit Communications and Public and Media Relations. Since 2011 I have been employed with the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce / Dalton-Whitfield County Joint Development Authority.
I am currently serving as a Project Manager for economic development under the Dalton-Whitfield County Joint Development Authority. I work closely with the Executive Director to aid in the recruitment of new industry, the expansion and support of existing industry and the continued success of our local small businesses.
I wear multiple “hats” in our organization as I also serve as the Marketing & Communications Manager, manager of our four-year, multi-million dollar capital campaign which supports economic development and provide Executive Assistant services to the Executive Director of E.D. Prior to this I worked as Executive Assistant to the President & CEO of the Greater Dalton Chamber. When I was promoted to economic development in 2013, I still continued to serve (unofficially) as Executive Assistant to the President until he left in early June 2015.
I have nearly four years’ experience serving as Executive Assistant to a high-level executive, and I feel this is something I excel at. I enjoy being behind the scenes and like being the “go to” person for my superiors. I am typically the person responsible for planning and seeing through meetings, events and projects paying special attention to the small details, as those have proven to be vital in our industry. I joke that one of my responsibilities is to make my boss’s life easier- but I feel that is a sign of a good E.A.
