Barbara Sumner Burstyn

Sumner Burstyn founded Cloud South Films (NZ) in 2005 and Cloud North Films (Canada) in 2013 with Tom Burstyn. She has produced three feature documentaries, television commercials and instructional films and line-produced documentaries for the NFB and the Public Schools of Los Angeles.

She was a magazine features writer and an award winning social issues columnist and is widely published in New Zealand. Her current film, Some Kind of Love has just been released.

Her previous film This Way of Life was shortlisted for an Oscar and won 12 international awards and sold to 22 countries. An earlier film One Man, One Cow won four international awards and sold to 16 countries.

Harper Collins published This Way of Life, the book in 2012.

Sumner has five adult daughters and five grandchildren. She is a New Zealand citizen and a Canadian Permanent Resident.
