We study venomous animals and their venoms as a model system to address broad and fascinating questions in ecology, evolutionary biology and genetics. Our multidisciplinary research spans state-of-the-art technologies in transcriptomics, proteomics, antivenomics, bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular biology to understand the fascinating evolutionary histories of venomous animals and their venoms; the latter is particularly important for the molecular design of next-generation of antivenoms that will have an increased specificity and efficiency.
