I dropped out of college 3 times. I gave up when I was told that money was more important than re-arranging my future goals. Feeding my head with 3x the excuse of free meal plans and an advantage to kick me out the house if I couldn’t pay rent. If only every employer understood how much of a difference I can make, if the difference was starting with a chance of a clean slate. No degree to show for soo.. what kind of an example can the Youth per-take when I couldn’t per-take in being the 1st in my family to graduate. A degree in fame turn to shame, to expose a competition between us. You are not wiser because your a graduate. You are wise when you educate. You are wise when your words become politically loud in compassionate silence. Being class of 2013′ doesn’t make you less than a minority living in the slums working a full time job, hoping to get an increase on your pay. Be the class of 2013′ to fight back when government aid collects taxes to send soldiers to war. When war over powers the meaning of love and churches loose senses in values and mis-judge a young women with 2 whose doing everything for her kids to have a better life then they did. Extend your hand to teach those that want to be taught and do it for nothing in exchange but the self gratified happiness of a pursuit. Don’t tell me that school is important. I know that school is important to fulfill my dreams of being a teacher. But my degree wont be the piece that justifies my reasoning. My character would make a difference, not a chant or a paper exploiting how America is the land of the free. I’am free when there is no longer a manual that saids “on how to treat everyone equal” -Kat G.
