I am the Digital Initiatives Librarian at Kapiʻolani Community College, Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.
Born in Hawai'i, since the age of 6 I have lived in Asia, South America, North America, and Europe. I enjoy and find fulfillment in helping people learn life and professional skills and reach their life goals. My work experience is in project management, technology support, open source systems, open access, online library collections, digital preservation, and open educational resources.
My current work:
I oversee the open computer lab for all campus students, IT for the Library and Learning Resources unit, and the testing center. I manage the college’s institutional repository, work with open source and open access systems, and develop online collections of local works by students, college employees, and the community. I support my college and our ten-institution university system in adopting open educational resources and offering Textbook Cost: $0 courses. I volunteer with Open Education Conference, Open Education Network, CCCOER, and WICHE OERWest. In 2024, I serve as the president of the Hawaiʻi Library Association.
