When choosing a new home, we generally follow a simple procedure: -
- Choose the type and location of the property we are looking for;
- Find all available that meet that criteria;
- Remove any that have negative aspects;
- View the shortlist of acceptable properties;
- Buy the one that ticks most, if not all, of the boxes.
Adopting the same approach to finding new customers can be just as simple. (Finding a new home is never simple. But the process should be.) The trick is to make sure that the shortlist is as close as possible to the final list of requirements.
By taking a top-down and bottom-up approach, we can really have a much greater impact on the return on investment. Making sure the data is up-to-date should be an absolute priority in any marketing campaign. Imagine turning up to view a house to find that it had been demolished or simply withdrawn from the market.
