Surja Mandal is a Law student at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB), a freelance opinion writer, and a young legal research enthusiast. He is passionate about exploring how law can serve as a tool of empowerment rather than intimidation.

Alongside his academic studies, he writes regularly in leading Bangladeshi newspapers and online platforms including The Daily Observer, Dhaka Tribune, The Financial Express, The Daily Star, and BD Opinion Juris Blog. His articles cover a wide range of issues such as law, justice, human rights, cultural heritage, consumer rights, cyber law, environmental protection, and legal reforms.

With more than a dozen published articles, Surja is building a strong profile as a young voice in legal research and public discourse. His quote — “Let the law be a tool of empowerment — not intimidation” — reflects his vision of justice.

Beyond writing, he actively participates in seminars, law quizzes, and academic competitions. He has attended discussions and lectures on topics like constitutional reform, truth and reconciliation processes, and rights of nature in the Global South. His academic and extracurricular engagements strengthen his interest in constitutional law, human rights, environmental law, digital security, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
