Background : Three years ago I started riding as something to do for fun and an activity to participate in with my wife. Coming from a competitive sports background, my determination soon started to kick in and within a year I had attended my first local hunter show and placed in the ribbons. From there my interest went to dressage as I was and still am fascinated with the connection between horse and rider. The precision and execution of dressage is an incredible thing to watch and also to experience. I began looking into Para Dressage online and came to realize that this was what I wanted to do and what I should strive towards. I currently am schooling four days a week and have competed in the Sea to Sea video competitions offered though Para Equestrian Canada, able bodied Bronze Shows, and Para Dressage Shows, placing every time. This Show season I am looking forward to heading to several Bronze competitions, Para Dressage shows and expanding on my show experience.
Disability : I have spastic Cerebral Palsy with right sided Hemiplegia. Cerebral Palsy affects the movement and coordination of my muscles along with having an adverse affect on my posture and balance. My condition primarily affects my right side and I have difficulty with fine and gross motor control. My distance perception is also altered and I have some issues with spatial awareness.
